Winter AG approved production site for SafeSign Identity Client enabled smart cards

A.E.T. Europe B.V. (AET) has approved WINTER AG, Unterschleißheim, as qualified production site for secure and trustworthy preparing of chip products ready for use with SafeSign Identity Client (SafeSign IC).

"A secure production infrastructure, professional processes, highly secure key management and comprehensive quality assurance conforming to the requirements of AET have been realised by WINTER AG. The profound knowledge of WINTER AG regarding the management of Java Chip technology and the professional loading and initializing of SafeSign IC applets are fundamental for constant high quality." Reinoud Weijman, Managing Director of AET, explains the importance to AET:" Our approved partners guarantee a reliable supply chain for small, mid-sized and high volume smart cards and USB tokens ready for use with SafeSign IC. The approval can be withdrawn if processes are not fulfilled according to agreed standards between AET and WINTER AG.”

The correct functioning of SafeSign IC is depending on a properly produced smart card or USB Token. Therefore AET likes to emphasize that smart cards and / or USB tokens being produced for use with SafeSign IC by vendors that are not approved AET production sites are NOT eligible for ANY support by AET in case of problems, even if they purchased a SafeSign IC Maintenance and Support Agreement.

"The approval as qualified production site for SafeSign IC enabled smart cards and USB Tokens is very important to WINTER AG. SafeSign IC is not only used as a single application for logical access on company security level but more and more part of powerful multifunctional Smart Cards for e-banking, e-health, e-government and company access. The quality assurance of multi-application cards is crucial for the success of highly integrated solutions", according to Stephan Breitenmoser, Director Marketing & Sales at Winter AG.
